Tebow 3:16

I know this is an odd thing to be the subject of my first post in I-know-not-how-long, but... how'd a guy who isn't even that good a player get super-famous for stopping to pray at apparently random moments?

I mean, it's hardly the best endorsement for God if a mediocre player is the one doing all the spontaneous stop-and-pray moments. Because ( Read more... )

Oy, I don't see the appeal of Tebow either. He has his moments of talent, but I find the fact that he uses his religion as a personality gimmick to be unbelievably classless and just...gross. That sort of thing should be between you and your god, whoever that god might be.

On a tangentially related note, I laughed REALLY hard in real life at the Indy comparison because it's SO PERFECTLY TRUE. May I steal that comparison? :D

Heh whats even funnier about the Indy maneuver is that if you go back and watch a behind the scenes look at that movie it isn't how that scene was planned. The swordfighter actor worked a long time to perfect the scene and Harrison Ford just being funny pulled out a gun and shot him and thats how the scene ended up being shot much to the sha-grin of the actor whom put a fair deal of effort into his portion of the work ( ... )

I don't watch football much, and I don't know too much about Tebow and his performance or his team. However, it could be argued that his performance is beside the point. Paul said, "Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thess. 5:16-18). God wants to be recognized in every circumstance, winning or losing. On the other hand, I am not sure how I feel about him making a huge show about it; Jesus had some harsh words to people who do that (Matt. 6:5-6). Plus, one does not need to get on one's knees to pray.
