The pack, after a few days of preparation, left Philly for Albany. They went to the hotel that they'd seen on the news as being the site of a gun battle between DEA and an unknown enemy (they guessed, correctly, a pack of werewolves) and found a few interesting things. They found silver shot on the ground, saw that a werewolf had punched its way through the ceiling of one room into the one upstairs, and via the Echo Dream Gift saw that a fog-spirit of some kind had apparently helped the werewolves out. Zeke also noticed a scent mark saying "Beware the Hisil." Fletcher looked across and saw a war-spirit beckoning him (the pack did not try to step across).
Looking around further, they found the scent of a pack and followed it into the hills. They reached a valley and howled, and were greeted a few moments later by a pack of Hunters in Darkness called Howls in the Mist. Some immediate tension: These Uratha take descriptive names (Black Feet, Gray Flanks, etc) when in Urhan form but use their human names in human form. Reese kinda took an "eh, whatever" attitude toward this, but it didn't become an issue (which is good, because I didn't have these guys statted).
The Howls took the pack to their resting place and chatted with them a bit. Their Rahu had lost an ear fighting the Fire-Touched, so when Reese explained that they were trying to find the Fire-Touched to ask for their help, the Howls were a little concerned. Samuel, their alpha, said that he was leery of sending Uratha to die, and so invited the pack to spend the day and swap some stories while he thought about it. They heard tales about Albany and the local packs, about the recent fight with the DEA and the silversmith in town forced to make bullets, the Roadkill pack and their association with a crow-Host (which got some nice looks from the pack), and so on.
At sundown, their Cahalith (Thomas, or "Cloud Breath," because his closeness with their fog-spirit totem makes his breath all misty in Urhan form) told them about the town of Foothill, NY, at the base of the Catskills. The town has a prominent family - the McEvers. This family carries the wolf strongly, and the Fire-Touched are the only tribe in the area. He said that, from what he'd heard, there had been a terrible battle with the Forsaken back in the 1980s in which the Hisil itself burned to cinders, and the Fire-Touched had claimed the area around the town ever since. He also said that the local werewolves took wolf-bloods up into the hills and performed a rite on them that prevented Luna from seeing them if they should ever Change (so they'd Changed without auspice).
The pack decided to leave the next morning. Samuel warned them that Fire-Touched often would let Forsaken live only if they thought they had a chance at converting them. He also said that carrying guns - and especially silver weapons (which they are; silver shot in the shotgun and the mysterious silver "pill" that Blaine made so many years ago) - would enrage them.
Reese, however, doesn't seem to think that death is a serious possibility. We shall see.
