Silence of Time update

Scylla and Zeke watched as Gordon was knocked down and Ember and Uriah moved to pour two buckets filled with vomit on him. Scylla noticed a wolf skulking around in the shadows, half of its body covered in black fur and the other half silvered. As they watched, Gordon burst into Gauru form, knocking the buckets away, and bit Uriah, lost in the Rage of the First Change.

Scylla let out a howl to call Reese and Fletcher. Zeke pulled his blades and squared off with Billy (who had unfurled his whip and was standing ready). Scylla called out to the half-wolf (actually an Elunim) to help Gordon, and Billy flicked his whip across her nose. Ember changed to Dalu and touched Gordon on the arm, and suddenly he felt filled with the love of Rabid Wolf, unable to harm the Fire-Touched. Zeke slashed his arm with one of his scythes, but about then Reese and Fletcher showed up and Rachel yelled out for everybody to stand down.

Scylla took Gordon (now back in human form and very confused) aside, but Gordon remembered what he'd been told about following the bobcat. As he watched, the half-wolf's face changed to that of a bobcat, and Gordon shrugged off Scylla and started walking toward it. Meanwhile, Reese was arguing with Uriah about the disposition of the new cub. Fletcher and Reese made it very clear that they would sooner die than convert, and Reese said the Gordon deserved the choice to be Pure or Forsaken. Uriah, however, didn't seem to feel that Gordon could make that choice correctly, having Changed under the moon and all. Reese, knowing that things were going to go south very soon, simply called out "Rabbit," the pack's code for "Flee!" He used True Leader and managed eight freaking successes, giving his pack 8 extra Willpower to help them escape, and changed to Gauru for the coming onslaught.

Billy tried to strike him, but missed (probably because of Zeke's earlier hit). Ember, however, did not, and she tore Reese up pretty badly. He ran, heard a gunshot behind him and made for the treeline, but then felt that arrow slam home. Barely managing to stay concious (I think he had exactly one empty Health box), he kept running.

Billy and Ember chased him, and it was clear that Reese wouldn't survive a fight with both of them. The two Fire-Touched flanked him, Billy reared back...and then vanished. Zeke, it seems, had doubled back and used Manipulate Earth to open a deep pit right below Billy. Ember tried to bite Reese, but couldn't penetrate his armor-fur. Reese, realizing that to stay and fight would be suicide since the other Fire-Touched wouldn't be far behind, ran up a fallen tree and used the Mighty Bound Gift. He cleared almost 40 vertical feet and left Ember in the dust.

Meantime, Scylla had jogged up the road and found a guy gassing up his SUV. She gave him a sob story about how her car broke down, but when they got to the part of the road where the pack was waiting, she pulled her gun, took the guy's clothes (because of course Gordon's nekkid, though interestingly the knife that his uncle had given him stayed on him), and trussed him up in the back (as a side note, leaving him there might have caused Harmony loss, since with the Pure on the way that would have been a death sentence).

They let him go in Buffalo, and took a train back to Philly. En route, they called the Harmony pack, who said that they'd performed the Rite of Dormancy on a few infected humans but that it only slowed the Virus down. What they needed was someone with more inside information...like a werewolf who had been infected before his Change. Like Gordon.

So the story ended. During the downtime, Gordon's not only learning about being Uratha, but learning the Rite of Dormancy. Next story, we'll see if he can cure the Virus.
