YUMMINESS

We're hosting the Pennsylvania Caves Association meeting tomorrow evening, which is neither here nor there, really. But, as it includes dinner, it gives us an excuse to knock ourselves out cooking. We've spent most of today - and a few hours over the past few days - prepping. So here's what's on the menu:

New England Clam Chowder or Tomato Bisque ( Read more... )

social and personal, foodstuffs, speleological

i don't know how to cook, so that would be fantastic:D i know the trek is over 2 hours away (maybe 3? i don't remember.) since i have a lot of free time on my hands now, i'm going to try and learn how to cook. so then maybe i can return the favour!

Cooking is actually a lot easier than it may appear. At least as long as you keep it fairly simple. A complex, several-course meal with lots of sauces and shit can be a nightmare - but that has more to do with stage management than cooking skills. Otherwise, you just need the time to devote to it (which, granted, can be scarce) and the willingness to learn from the odd mistake. Sean is a terrific cook - but he can also set the oven on fire in the process.  :)

Heh, the only good thing about these stupid meetings is usually the meal - though most venues just have them catered.

It's criminal you're making people choose between crab cakes and prime rib. Absolutely criminal. Still, I wish I owned a cave...

Hee hee hee. And we get all the leftovers! (Actually, we're inviting a few staff members over for a second sitting after the cave people have gone - but there should still be some leftovers...)

Thanks. All went quite well - especially the meal. Though I also managed to land a videographer friend a decent gig doing a collective DVD for the nine member caves - and may have got a bit of web design work for myself and another friend - so the meeting itself went okay, too.

Even though I'm a veggiesaurus, that all sounds mouthwateringly delicious. We'll cancel our weekend plans and be there in about 6 hours, ok? Thanks! :)
