Los Angeles in mid-July with no A.C. didn't make for the most pleasant of environments. Between that and how quiet things had been, she couldn't help but feel tense. It had been three and a half weeks since her last vision, and while she was grateful for the break, she couldn't help but fear that something big was on the horizon.
Or maybe she was just being pessimistic. She glanced over to where Wesley was seated, concentrating on some translation thing. She set her nail file down and rose to her feet. "Coffee?"

"Coffee?" It took him a second to pull away from the translation he was working on to come back to reality. "Oh, yes, thank you." Cordelia's coffee was just plain awful, but at least it would give her something to do. He might just not drink it at the moment. It really was too hot for coffee, anyway.
He pushed the translation aside and rubbed his eyes for a moment. He wasn't sure if he could keep concentrating on it right now.

She dropped them into the coffee mugs and moved over to his desk. "How's the translation coming?"

"The translation is coming along fine. It's just hard to concentrate with the heat," he admitted to her. "Hopefully it will bring in some money, though."

"Great," she muttered, splashing some cold water on her face and then drying it off with a towel. She forced herself to take a deep breath, trying to look as normal as possible before heading out of the bathroom. She caught sight of Wesley and Gunn coming down the stairs just as she knelt on the floor and began to pick up the broken remnants of her coffee mug.

Wesley walked over to his shelf of books and pulled one of the books off of it. After going through it for a few minutes, he found the demon in question. "It seems that the usual slice and dice will work on this creature," he said, shutting the book. "Do you know how long we have, Cordelia?"
