Snow Business

It snowed overnight here in the Delaware Valley. It looks like maybe three inches on the ground and it will "taper off this afternoon" according to the forecast, so perhaps we'll get one more inch. It will all melt Monday anyway, when the forecast high is 60 F.

It is absolutely silent in my house except when the heat rumbles on. Bliss.

I was up at six a.m. and it was perfectly quiet and clean white, here, too (trying to proof my latest dough).

However, I was interested in getting to the gym right about now, and ... well, the motivation for that goes away a bit, if it takes as much time to get there as one might spend on the elliptical, say. It's still snow showering here, sometimes quite a lot.

Chili, beef stew, or any good soup are a joy on a cold day.

I probably need to buy a slow cooker, because the lowest setting of the electric stove runs a little too hot to leave the chili unattended for long periods (but I'm loathe to buy a dedicated appliance I'll use only occasionally.)

I take it that the "3-4 inches" is a welcome change in comparison to the gobs of snow you received last year?

Oh yea. We got walloped with about 66" total last year. The long range forecast for this winter is that the snow will end early in the season, so my fingers remain crossed.

Official final accumulation today was 3.4" according to the evening news. It took a bit less than an hour to clear the entire driveway and front walk with my little electric snow blower, and I had the presence of mind to pick up a couple bags of plant safe magnesium chloride deicer last month, so the driveway is now mostly bare.

I wonder if it's our age ... but, yes, absolute silence can seem like bliss (and the coffee helps).
I assume you're further south than we are- it's just getting up to freezing here this afternoon.
Beautiful shot - I love fluffy snow.
