The lobby was doing a pretty good impression of a tropical beach when Mary-Jean finally came down from her room. The zombie thing had ended in a nasty way, and all she'd wanted (after checking in on the sphinx) was to scrub her skin off in a shower and sleep for a week. It was actually quite a luxury to be able to do that ( Read more... )

"There is too much ocean," the sphinx announces with disapproval.

Her fur is slightly on-edge.

"Yeah, there's a lot of it." she agreed with a soft sigh. "But the shore isn't that bad. There's all kinds of things in the tide pools, have you seen them?" Sometimes the best way to work through fear was through distraction?

"...no. Where are they?"

Her glance flickers to the horizon repeatedly as they talk.

She stood and swung her pack back onto her shoulders. The gun she settled in it's sling; she didn't think she'd need it close to hand for this. "This way." she offered a smile and trotted a little ways down the beach.

There was, indeed, a pool. There were things darting around the surface. "The time comes in twice a day." Mary-Jean explained. "And when it goes out, sometimes things from the ocean get trapped in these areas."

...it'd been a few weeks for Nathan, but a very full few weeks. His nephew was safely ensconced at the Center, he and Colton were filing every possible legal action they could against his aunt Leah, and his uncle Henry was just about ready to kill him.

Which was fine with him, really. Henry could try. Nathan wished him good luck with that.

But walking into the hotel, now, that was something he wasn't expecting. Really, he'd started to think the place was some sort of strange mental screensaver or a bizarre bit of corrupted data he'd eaten.

"A bad crumble of cheese, eh, Scrooge?" he muttered to himself as he walked out into the... beach.

When he saw a familiar figure, however, he moved towards her.

"Mary-Jean?"

Mary-jean raised her free hand to shield her eyes, then offered a smile to the new arrival. "Hello Nathan. I lost track of you after the really weird floor level. I think, in retrospect, it was a video game floor." At least that's the only thing she could come up with after a bit of time to think?

"I found the sphinx. She's alright. Scared a bit, but I got her back down to the lobby after I lost you."

The little dark man from a while back blinks at the sand...and then leaves his boots by the stairs. This...this is nice. It's nice, and normal, and he sighs deeply as he wanders across the beach.

"Careful, some of the shells scream commercials." Mary-Jean warned with a grin. "But no shamblers as of yet so I think the lobby is finally pretty harmless." And that was the safety report from the girl who didn't feel like moving!

"Commercials." he says with a slow blink, "I am afraid I do not know that, Lady."

"Ummm..." She sat up, trying to think how to explain that one. "Advertisements? Barking? Offering products for crazy prices?"
