You could try looking for a dorm in UP/Teacher's Village. It may be pricey, but it's safe and really convenient. Wala masyadong gubat dun ;D.

What is your monthly budget for a dorm anyway? Just asking so I can help you ask around.

My mom's looking at 6 a month? Is that reasonable or are dorms like mucho expensivo nowadays?

I haven't really canvassed to see around how much housing costs nowadays, but when I asked her to give me what price she's comfortable with, she said 6.

6k? That is actually a lot, as you could get your own apartment (read: SOLO living house) for that price a month. I'm looking to see if the ladies dorm nearby my place in Teacher's Village (where you can walk to the IKOT station) are okay enough. :)
