Character Information
Name: Wesley Charles Broderick
LJ Username:
wesleybroderickHouse: Slytherin
Year: 7th
Age: 18
Birthdate: August 20th
Zodiac Sign / Description: Leo / Slytherin Leos can be either very good, or very bad. At their best, they exemplify all that "nobility" is made of: confidence, openness, charm, initiative, generosity of spirit, wisdom, judgment, and poise. At their worst, they become elitist, bullying bigots. How they end up depends on the company they keep, and how they are encouraged to act early in life. Either way, they never lack attention - it's hard to ignore a Slytherin born under this sign. These Slytherins usually end up in positions of responsibility and leadership, because of their charisma and natural ability. Their creativity and drive also makes them very resourceful.
Bloodline: Pureblood
Heritage: British
Mother: Marie Broderick / 42 / Marie is the typical Pureblood wife, in a loveless marriage. She doesn't care what her husband does, as she's a little bit of a dim bulb, and she spends her days drinking and talking to herself.
Father: Charles Broderick / 61 / Charles is very elitist and very evil. Think of the devil and multiply that scariness times ten, and you have Charles Broderick. When his son was merely three years old, he decided to play a game with a Muggleborn. Unfortunately, his game ended up with a child that no one knows of, and he doesn't speak of it to anyone -- nor does he speak to the girl's mother. / Played by Patrick Stewart
Guardian: N/A
Siblings: Bailey Tancer / 15 (though he doesn't know about her being related to him, and she's only his half-sister)
Personal History: Wesley was born in Oxford, England, to Marie and Charles Broderick. As a child, he was left to be raised by his nanny and the House-Elves, until he was old enough to understand what his family is, the typical Pureblood elite. His father is a Death Eater, one of the prominent figures in the fight against Dumbledore. When he was old enough to understand the war and the side that he was expected to be on (which was around the age of 9), he started studying with his father.
His mother, being quite dim-witted and unimaginative, didn't have much to do with him at all, but he was fine with that. He took to his father's side, learning all that he could of the Mudbloods, Muggles, and why they were trying to rid the Wizarding World of the filth.
When he got to Hogwarts, he was still slightly open-minded, as he was only 11. He wasn't making friends with those of obvious Muggle descent, but he had no qualms with being friendly to Purebloods who were apparent blood-traitors. However, when his father found out that he'd befriended said blood-traitors, he was immediately forced to cut off all ties with them. Thus began his journey to the purely evil side. Without the influence of those good people, he was becoming more and more jaded to his father's will.
While he hates his father, he respects the man far too much to ever disobey him. Or perhaps it's fear, but whatever the reasoning, whatever Charles says is law.
Because of this, Wes is very closed about his family life. He appears to have the utterly typical Pureblood family, with attendances at social functions and the like, but in reality, his father is the monster that is training a prodegy.
Personality: Wes is a lot of things, but none of those things would include the term nice. He can be cordial when he wishes, but he only wishes when it does something to help him, or when it's part of his games. He plays mind games with everyone around him, trying to figure out how to best break everyone that he speaks with. For this reason, it's very hard to pinpoint what makes Wesley Broderick tick.
He only has one person that he considers a friend. Everyone else is at varying degrees of seperation from him. There are the people that he respects and somewhat likes, but doesn't confide in, to the people that he absolutely hates and lives to make their lives miserable. Everything that Wes does is carefully calculated, to make sure that it gives him the maximum benefit or experience.
Wes is cruel and very violent. He takes extreme pleasure out of hurting people, and enjoys the looks of pain that they get on their faces. He uses the torture to learn new ways to break people. That is his ultimate goal, to break people.
He is very manipulative, and he sees this as an excellent quality in himself. He lies with ease and for the most part, manages to pull off those lies spectacularly. He uses his games as a way to practice his skills of manipulation and lying, mainly, trying to make people confused. Trying to make them wonder if they were, perhaps, wrong all along about the cruel and evil Wes. Of course, they're all very right when they talk about staying away from him.
He walks around the castle as though he owns it, and in some ways -- at least in his mind -- that's kind of true. He has terrorized so many people in his years that he isn't afraid to show any of them what he'll do to them if they get in his way; which... some of them still do. But that, to him, is more amusing than anything, because it gives him the practice that his games don't. It gives him practice in his wandwork, in his magic skills. He loves the Crucio Curse like it's part of him. Luckily, he's not an idiot, so when he uses something that's not as legal as other spells, he uses Obliviate -- which is amusing in its own right, because his victims are left wondering why they are in so much pain.
All in all?
He is a cruel, vindictive, evil bastard. He got it from his father, but he's proud to bear it on his own.
Physical Description: Wes is 5'7", but he makes up for his slight shortness with his prescence. He weighs about 160 lbs, and has a slimmer build, but anyone who mistakes him for being weak because he's smaller than average men? They only make that mistake once. His eyes are a deep blue and are one of his most prominent features. He has brown hair, and sometimes grows a bit of scruff that pretends to be a beard. He doesn't tend to keep that, though, because... well, it makes him look silly, in his eyes, and that's not something that he can accept. He rarely smiles, but he has a smirk that is often on his face. He has a habit of slipping his hands into his pockets, as it makes him look more harmless.
Preferred Body Model: Elijah Wood
Hobbies and talents:
1. Torturing/Tormenting - Now, he doesn't do stupid shit like hexing a random third eye onto students. No, when Wes goes out on his torturing sprees, they're with the intention to harm. But he always has a lot of fun doing it, which makes it one of his hobbies.
Weaknesses:
1. Elitism - Wes holds himself above everyone else. There are some who stand with him, but in his eyes, there is only one who is better than himself, and that would be the Dark Lord. Anyone else should quail under his influence.
2. Detached - In the same vein of his elitism, Wes doesn't care about people. He detaches himself from the world and keeps himself at a cold distance.
3. Violent - If Wes hears about someone doing something that he doesn't like, whether or not it was done in front of him, or even if it directly affects him, he makes sure to make that person... pay. He has been known to cut off fellow students' fingers, use the Cruiciatus Curse on them, and plain-out torture them, for fun. It's almost like he can't be happy unless he's hurting someone.
4. Cruel - Simply put, the boy is cruel. He hates people and isn't afraid to show them as such. He can play nice, but underneath the facade of a smile, he's always planning their demise.
5. Spoiled - Wes always gets what he wants. He's not spoiled in the material sense; he doesn't get everything handed to him on a silver platter, such as a fancy new broom every year, or material possessions. No, his spoiled-ness comes from never losing the war. He may be brought down a peg every now and again, but it always fits into his plans, and he always comes out on top -- at least, that's the way that he thinks it should be, and that's the way that he perceives it.

What would your character smell if they sniffed Amortentia (the love potion)? The smell of the ocean. When Wes was a boy, he went to the ocean -- once. It fueled his love of the outdoors, of sitting by the water, and though he would never admit it to anyone, it's the one memory that he has of being truly and actually happy.
Do you think your character is capable of successfully employing a Cruiciatus Curse? Why or why not? ...Wes simply laughed at this question. He scoffs at the idea of not employing Crucio. He loves that Curse. It is one of his babies. That and Sectumsempra are his favourite spells ever. So... yes. He can and has successfully used Crucio. Many times.
Describe how your character would react, in the form of a sample RP, if faced with a Dementor.
The Dementor was swooping down on him, but it wasn't after him. He was a loyal servant of the Dark Lord -- and even if he hadn't been, he didn't have enough happiness (or even contentness, for that matter) for the Dementor to have a proper feast.
No, he wasn't afraid in the least.
Rather, he was slightly bemused, waiting for it to close in on him before he spoke with all the power that he'd tried to take from the Dark Lord's prescence. He didn't have the same commanding tone, but he was getting there. "Go after them," he ordered, sweeping his hand toward the students who were running. The chill that had come over his bones was almost... comforting. In a strange kind of way, he even welcomed it, and was a bit disappointed when the Dementor swept away, making the chill ease back until he felt normal again.
This would be a great night for his Master.
Alignment: Pro-Voldemort
Requests: Wes is the Captain and Keeper of the Slytherin team. He has a Nimbus 2001. He's also a Death Eater (having received his Mark on his 18th birthday) and the leader of the VA.
