In further, psuedo-activist news...

I'm going to have to say that I truly feel that the FairPlay encyption on iTunes Store music is in violation of antitrust laws. As well as those "you can't monopolize stuff" laws I read about in Telecom last semester. You know, despite what the courts apparently think. Steve Job's open letter, Thoughts on Music, while hypocritical, seems pretty ( Read more... )

You have a ZUNE!!!!!! Omgsquee I LUB you. I have one of the old 30G ones when they first came out because I DIDN'T want a Zune.

I'm guessing that iTunes just didn't so they could protect all the stuff they have exclusive rights to.

I actually REALLY like my Zune. Microsoft is having some major OMGRetard problems with their software setup, imo, but I have faith it'll get worked out. :)

Yeah the software dicks you around for a bit, but it's totally worth it. Because it's so purdy.

And yes, on Zune Social.

It IS so purdy. Especially since I finally got around to converting my DVD's to Zune-friendly format.

Do I have to pay to be a member? I haven't signed up yet.

No you don't have to pay to be a part of the Social. You pay to join Zune Pass, which gives you unlimited monthly downloads and the option to pick ten songs to keep forevers. Bad news bears: Once you cancel your Pass you lose any music you didn't pick to keep forevers.

lol, alright, I guess I'll sign up for Social then. I'll go do it now, in fact.

...so, what IS it, exactly?

It's basically a way to hook up with other people who listen to the same stuff you do. It gives you five friends automatically based on your collection and then you can earn badges for how many times you listen to an album or song. It's just a toy really, but I've never really had anyone to play with befores.

I sent an invite! I'm Spence720. :)
