Winning and whining

Woohoo! Major, major applause to 30 Rock, Tina Fey, and Alec Baldwin for stealing the TV portion of the Golden Globes presentation! The Jane/Tina interaction was incredibly adorable, imo, and Tracy...well, yeah, what can you say, really? I'm pretty much in love with the whole show and everyone on it, and am considering making and/or buying a T- ( Read more... )

This is not your fail! I can't understand how parents can be so blind. I know I'm not a perfect parent, but I always want the best for my daughter, and I always make sure she has what she needs. Transportation definitely sounds like a basic need for you, not a luxury.

My dad is very much like yours...my brother was the golden child. My brother, even as an adult, couldn't see it...until he had his own children. He had a daughter, then a son...and our dad definitely favors the boy. Now my brother sees it.

Anyway, I empathize with you. *hugs* I'm sorry they're being like this.

Guh, I don't know if he favors my brother, or if that's just how it feels sometimes. But yeah. And as far as a basic need, I mean, I CAN get by without one if I finagle things enough, but it's such an enormous, time-consuming headache.

*hug* Thanks for lending an ear. ♥

I feel you on this one, and I wound up buying my own car for $800, and your insurance shouldn't be too bad... do you have on campus work study? A couple hundred for a permit to park on campus, gas...

It's possible for you to do it on your own, and I think if you get the ball rolling you may be able to convince them to assist.

$800? Fer srs? Yeah, with a little work, all things are possible. Maybe. =P

Man, my last car was a $300 POS that could sure 4x4 though. For srs. And considering how cars are slightly more expensive here, yeah, you should TOTALLY be able to get an old beater for under a $1000. Finding one that won't completely shit out on you in a few months, that's the trick. If you have any family/friends that know anything about cars, have them come with you to take a look. If you can't, I'd see if I could arrange with the private seller to take the car to a mechanic to have them give it a look over, they might even be willing to go half-sies if they think it'll get you to buy it ( ... )

You're within your rights to be pissed. Your dad's a stingy, rat bastard. The end. I know you didn't expect me to beat around the bush. [insert dirty vagina joke here]

This is the point where you do what you have to do to make your transportation issues go away. That campus is huge. You need it.

Also, stop being a pushover when it comes to your dad. I know you've always had a bit (yea, a lot) of anxiety concerning him, but you need to get over it and help him get over his ridiculous ability to fuck you over. He's so used to you just rolling over that it's become second nature to deny you.

Grow some balls, my friend.

If anyone else said this to me, I'd probably cry and/or never speak to them again. But it just makes me want to give you a hug.

I guess I'll probs knuckle down and duke it out with El Bastardo, but the reality is I CAN manage without it, and it's just a lot of money for someone to spend, and you know if I DO get my way, I'll just feel guilty about it for the rest of forever, and...

there I go being a pussy again.

Just keep yelling at me. I'll get it together someday.

OK, well, I don't know all your past parental issues, but that definitely sounds sucky, and unfair if your brother is getting a car.

Re: 30 Rock. I'm annoyed because once again, someone at the main LJ comm is all, "Tina and Alec obviously hate each other!" And I feel like the "Star" article has put this idea in a lot of people's minds, even though it was completely unrealistic, and now more and more people are going to be looking for tension.

I'll live, I reckon. :)

Guh, the whole thing is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is the surge of paranoia *I'm* experiencing because of it. But it's bullshit until otherwise noted, and I will treat it as such.

Yeah, I try to stay on top of my irrational fandom thoughts. Because I have them too, but in this case it really doesn't make sense. I know Alec Baldwin has kind of a "difficult" rep, although not across the board, but Tina certainly doesn't. And I haven't heard any credible reports of Baldwin arguing with people on set, either.
