I have a friend who would really like to apply, can I tell her she can start now and put it in at any time and that it will just "rest" until the next game starts?

Of course! The queue implies just that - some waiting. As long as her application is filled in correctly (plus meets all the requirements like age limit, four books read, etc) will be released when Game 10 begins.

I am new here and I would really like to get sorted. I understand I have to wait but in the meantime I would like to at least complete the application. How do I do that?

Hi there! To fill in the application you should go to the community profile page (here's the link - http://westerosorting.livejournal.com/profile), read the Rules and Application section carefully, and pretty much right below it there will be a textbox that looks small, but actually has all the questions and in html besides :) So you copy them, fill in your answers and then create a new entry in the community, which will go up as soon as it's approved by the mod team (and Game Ten begins - we're still on hiatus). Be sure to read the guidelines, as they answer a lot of common questions about filling in a sorting application.
