What's the Deal with Action Movie Company Characters?

So I saw Batman yesterday, and yes it was very well made - brought to mind something that has bothered me before though. Without giving anything away, there is some indication in the movie of where the Joker gets his accomplices... but seriously the supply of tightly-disciplined, effective people willing to work for a homicidal maniac was unreal ( Read more... )

Aren't the Joker's henchmen all supposed to be insane? Like the guy the DA beats the crap out of to get info, and Batman's all, "No, he's nuts, like all the Joker's helpers. They're drawn to him (or something like that). Stop beating up the crazy dude."

The base builders, however, were clearly offered fortune beyond their wildest imaginings... and you know, the economy being what it is...

Sure they're the crazies... but if that's the case then they are remarkably competent and disciplined for asylum escapees.

I guess it would explain why good contractors are hard to find: they all get lucrative contracts to build secret lairs.

They're probably imported from former Soviet bloc countries. I hear unemployment over there is terrible.
