The first upset of the season appears to be underway in Wilmington, and it is breaking my heart. Red Girl, my very first rescue, has 4 eggs in her nest. Yesterday, not one but 2 intruders appeared in Wilmington. It now appears that one of them is occupying one of Red Girl's favorite perches. I hope the eggs survived Red Girl's distraction and that the story will be even more one of Red Girl's triumph over adversity.

The eggs are fine. More importantly, Red Girl is fine. She returned after several hours' absence and the intruder disappeared. No reports of any battle, so the intruder may have just been passing through town on migration and thought the Dupont Building was a nice sunny spot to rest for a bit. In any case, the only danger to the eggs would have been if RG was defeated and if the intruder got in the box she might have destroyed her rival's eggs. I am very, very relieved that RG is okay! :)
