BANGOR and DEDHAM - Blake Ryan Vaillancourt, 18, died peacefully August 18, 2006, in his mother's arms, at Seattle Children's Hospital, Seattle, Washington. Blake was born May 26, 1988, in Bangor, the son of Anna Blake and Wayne Vaillancourt. He attended Dedham Elementary School, where he participated in various sports. He was most recently a student at Bangor High School, where he earned his varsity letter as a member of the Bangor High School Diving Team. Blake was scheduled to graduate with the Bangor High School, Class of 2007. Blake will always be remembered for his wit and amazing spirit. His motto was "People know me because I make myself known." He loved his dog, Finch, his artwork, the Red Sox, and most of all, he loved his family. He is survived by his loving mother, Anna Blake; stepfather, Scott Bailey, of Bangor; sister, Corinne Vaillancourt, of Bangor; his father, Wayne Vaillancourt and his wife, Nancy, of Lyman; paternal grandparents, Therese Vaillancourt and Randy Vaillancourt and his wife, Sheila, of Lincoln; paternal step-grandparents, Sam Bailey and his wife, Marilyn, of Caribou; six uncles, David, Philip, Brad, Brian, Tim and Greg; four aunts, Phyllis, Pam, Donna and Renee; one step-uncle, Tim; one step-aunt Karen; a godmother Kim; a godson Collin; many cousins and several great-aunts, and great-uncles. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Edwidge Blake and her husband, Philip. The family gives special thanks to Dr. Judy McGann, Dr. Judy Allen and all of the medical staff at Eastern Maine Medical Center, Boston Children's and Seattle Children's Hospitals, The Dedham Community, Derek Volk and Cary Medical Center for their Marrow Drives, Caring Bridge Website, The Ronald McDonald Houses, and all of the caring people that gave an enormous amount of love and support. Visiting hours will be held 6-9 pm on Thursday, August 24, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 25. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. The Family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments at the Ramada Inn, Odlin Road, Bangor, after the services, Friday.
