A while back my parents passed on a Lastminute.com voucher my Dad won at work, so they are rather instrumental in getting us on the first actual holiday ( Read more... )

You have to try the chicken wings at a little traditional pub called The Harbour Master in the middle of the financial district. They are bloody lovely!!!

I am told the Guinness brewery is worth it for the tour and the view from the top even if you don't drink Guiness. Trinity College is pretty and has the Book of Kells and other illuminated manuscripts to look at. Also there are lots of nice pubs and shops, although they can be a bit touristy. I like cathedrals of which Dublin has several nice ones, but I understand this is not everyone's idea of a fun time. :)

Ha - snap! We'll be there for Hard Working Class Heroes, which is a music festival (not the muddy field variety) for unsigned Irish bands. Would highly recommend it, based on last year's experience. You can get one-night and three-night tickets for not very much money ( ... )

Ah, I dimly recall you saying you were going again, but had no idea which weekend it was.

Would definitely be good to meet up at some point. :)

Try the Irish Film Centre - didn't get to see a film but the bar/cafe/food is great. Also the small Print Museum is fab, as is the modern art museum which I can't remember the name of but it's near the old jail which is also worth a look.

I understand it is the law to get drunk and wear a hat shaped like a pint of Guinness. The locals love it too!
