Blindsided

Dec 13, 2005 00:48

Sometimes things happen out of the blue, completely unexpected, and they jar you, they rattle you, and leave in dazed, confused, angry, sad and just out of it. Today was such a day as I found out, quite suddenly that someone I'd become very friendly with at TDS had died, apparently by suicide. I don't have the real details, I'll find out when I go ( Read more... )

This's terrible... it happens all too often to young people these days. Sometimes the signs don't show on the surface - nobody can see it coming, so no-one should feel bad about noticing earlier.

The best everyone else can do it support one another, and the victim's family.

"It just doesn't make sense, it really doesn't. How can life end so suddenly and so quickly? I need to feel alive right now."

If you can't make sense of it, then that's a good thing: If you can't comprehend the act of suicide, then that means you're feeling truly alive.

Persevere. Move forward. He was a happy and involved person; the last thing he'd have wanted is for everyone to be overwhelmed... of course it's natural and right to grieve, but please stay strong.

Thank you Dave. What really helped was that everyone came together and we were able to mourn in an almost family sense, so none of us had to grieve alone.

Take care.

Billy still bounces into my head every once in a while, I'm not sure why really. Funny thing is no one here really knows what happened. I had a very close friend making suicide jokes (fit into a film) and he noticed me shut up, so I told him. But really no one here knows and no one, including myself, can do anything about it.

Funny really, in that unfunny sort of way.

It's one of those things that sort of sticks with you, and only when you completely let your defenses down does it really tug at your heartstrings, otherwise it just seems to linger.

I just hope I don't ever become like some people I know: numb to it. If that happens, pack me up and ship me out because I wouldn't want to live with myself that way, being able to numb that sort of emotional tragedy away.

Hope all is well.

Also, just to let you know, I have this crazy habit of reading people's old livejournal entries, especially after I just added them, to sort of see if what else has been going on, in their past. If that strikes you as weird, lemme know and I'll stop. I guess sometimes my curious nature gets the best of me.

Take care.

No worries about reading past entries. I'm not even sure what's back there anymore.
