So, is it a good thing if your vocal teacher can't tell you what your range is? She tried to pin it down and at first said, well, you are a baritone, but then, I kept hitting higher notes and then said, maybe you're a tenor... and then went lower and said, no, maybe bass baritone....

Color me confused.

I don't think it's weird at all. You apparently have a pretty wide range. I've never had my voice measured and classified, though it's pretty obvious though I think by strict guidelines I'm a Baritone. However, those classification systems are really just guidelines. According to the book, baritones range from A an octave below middle C to F above middle C. My range is more G below the low Baritone A (though I would never sing it) to G or A above middle C. I tend to sing at close to the top of that range, with a tenor tone to my voice. Most people upon hearing me sing would think that I am a tenor, and I can sing along with most tenors.
