You're in the City. And that worthless device just happens to be the most important thing you'll own here.

[Staring pointedly at the device. There's a voice coming from it. Truly, mankind has gone too far with magitechnology.]

Important? How detestable. Have humans come to rely so heavily on this wicked technology? Have I been away so long that this is he result of my absence? How unfortunate that I was unable to complete my mission to prevent such an atrocious future. It is as I thought.

I am aware.

The air in this place is vile, what is this mixture? Not only mana, but more-

I trust that this is not the world of Aselia or the world of Derris Kharlan, then.

Is that so?

Then perhaps I still have a chance.

Destroy the very source of life?

whackatimeline December 22 2009, 03:08:24 UTC
That is correct. Technology- it is used to destroy, to make weapons that will lay waste to all that lies in its path. Cities, people, the very ground beneath your feet.

That- yes, that is very terrible. But some technology is very good, don't you think?

I have never witnessed a technology that has been useful. Mankind is too selfish, too greedy, unable to use something in moderation. They are always seeking more knowledge, knowledge that should never be found. The knowledge that makes weapons of technology.

I am not so sure that this is magic. Only technology.

Welcome to the City. I am The Sorrow, the keeper of the Lighthouse here, should you wish to seek refuge from the chaos that is the metropolis.

A technology without the use of magic? Then what of the air here?

[seems to ponder this for a minute!]

Regardless, technology is dangerous in the hands of mankind, who have always sought to abuse any sort of technology that they have researched.

You speak as if I will be unable to leave.

You will be, because no one here knows of an exit as of yet.

Dangerous, yes, but it is also inevitable. Humanity invents. It is the nature of man. And one cannot say that all technology has been created to kill and destroy; after all, medicine has come quite a long ways.

I see. It is just as well, I may be able to finish my mission here.

In all of the time that I have watched mankind, they have only repeated the mistakes of the past when it comes to technology. It would be better if it ceased to exist.

Humans. Half-elves. What does it matter? They make the same mistakes.

Tch. Monsters put them to shame.

Beasts are far more respectful of the land. They do not needlessly destroy what they have. There is no comparison.
