Well, there are a couple of good things that came out of the election ( Read more... )

After Ohio becomes this election's Florida, maybe by 2008 we will have all our election problems ironed out.

You can vote how you want to vote.. but please don't start making generalizations about republicans being "suckered" into things, thinking we're all mindless, uneducated voters who can't think for ourselves (you didn't say that in so many words, but I know you, just like other democrats, feel that way). It's ridiculous that the label republican has become synonomous with "uneducated". Making generalizations like that makes democrats look like a bunch of sore losers who can't stand the fact that the election didn't go in their favor.

I think you are making generalizations about my comments. For example, you assume that I'm a Democrat (which I'm not) and you also assume that I think all Republicans are mindless and uneducated, neither of which I actually said in my entry. The only thing I said about thinking for yourself is that I'm glad that I did. I checked out the issues before casting my vote, which many people do not do before elections, both Republicans and Democrats. I do think some people get suckered in by emotions and patriotism, which are powerful tools that all politicians use to get us to vote for them. I think 9/11 was really tragic too, but the Bush camp always uses the terrorist attack as a rationale for going to war in Iraq - even though there has been no evidence that the two incidents are related. I think that's manipulative...

I've had a great time challenging my 6th and 7th graders this week about the election and political systems in America. We've been tearing apart the candidates' websites, edumacating ourselves about candidates and their records, and aligning our beliefs with the candidates' beliefsAnnie, let me say something as a friend. I have noticed you making a lot of glittering generalities about our president and administration. I suspect that I may understand why you say a lot of what you're saying, but you state it so dramatically online that you do often come across as a mere product of the juvinile and uninformed rhetoric pumped through MTV and Comedy Central. I think you need to work on your delivery a little ... sure, this is a blog where you're allowed to just flow what's on your heart, but I don't think we all understand why you make many of the claims you make. We haven't had the chance to sit down and listen to your reasons, we're just hearing the results. Teach us ( ... )

Thanks for posting, dude. I know I do come across as emotional when I'm talking about politics, but that's because I'm usually venting about something that has made me upset. There is a long list of reasons that crazy liberals give for hating the Bush administration, but most of the reasons that I dislike him as our president are because I'm personally connected to many of the mistakes (in my opinion) that he has made in the last four years ( ... )

Annie, I'm sure you've been ask this question a lot so I hope you are able to give me a convincing answer. You mentioned the issue of homosexuality and, although you did not state it, you seem to feel that there is nothing "morally" wrong with homosexuality. So my question is simply this; what do you have to say about the passages found in Galatians 5:19-21, 1 Corinthias 6:9-10, and Genesis 19? I'm not trying to be argumentative, I'm just curious how it is you interpret these scriptures that seem to speak so strongly against homosexuality? And my question is not about the issue of "judging" these people, it's simply about the act itself. I'd love to hear your thoughts. As much as you care to write in an online journal that is. :)
