How do you get your kids to see the bigger picture? I seem to have the same problem. I think every teacher has the same problem.
I think you hit it on the mark when you said it was family life/involvement. The kids I have who are on top of it all, doing the assignment and such, I can alway get a hold of the parents in one way or another. The others - well, I can keep calling and calling and leaving millions of messages yet they never call back. I hear the same thing from the rest of the teachers in my buildings - the kids' parents that you have to get a hold of you can never get a hold of.
it's not the only factor of course... I think it's just a very big part of it. Because I also have kids that are troublesome and i can always get a hold of the parents and they themselves are at wits end at what to do. They want to help, but have tried everything.
