(under construction)
Business Type: Motel/Rest Stop/General Convenience Store
Location: The central subway: specifically, at the edge of Sector 4: Browning Stop
Affiliation: Neutral. It's currently sponsored by the Transport Department as part of an ongoing effort to encourage use of the subway system.
Hours of Business: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Description: Originally a fairly plain coffin motel, the Wayside Inn has been upgraded to a much more charming establishment, promising "affordable luxury for citydwellers on the go." It's accessible both at street level and subway level (with appropriate anti-Darkness measures taken). In addition to the 'rooms' (which are rented by the hour, discounted the longer you stay) the Inn offers showers (complimentary for stays longer than eight hours, charged by the minute otherwise), laundry services, and hot meals. While individual cubicles are private, there's a common area for mingling and the occasional diversion.
For customers departing during the Darkness, the convenience store attached to the motel offers a selection of arms and ammunition to choose from (at a price, of course) as well as first aid kits. There's enough promotional material around the shop to suggest that there are plans for expansion and more features.
Despite its cozy air, the Inn is fully equipped with surveillance equipment, and the shop assistants are chosen for very particular customer relation skills.
Update, March 4th: The Inn now also operates a mechanic/maintenance shop on the ground floor, mainly for vehicles and weapons.
Update, May 10th: The Inn has opened branches in the Hawthorne, Underground Mall, and Grant Stadium stops, but Browning Stop remains the largest central hub.
Job Openings: Employees whose shift covers the Darkness are paid better, but must demonstrate a clear capacity to defend themselves and the Inn should any emergency come up. Positions available are front desk attendants, janitors, shop assistants, and general maintenance/service-level positions. An ability to work with machines is a plus. Entertainers will be considered on a case-to-case basis. All potential employees must be personally interviewed by Rin beforehand to determine their suitability.
Other Notes: Absolutely no pets (speaking or otherwise), and the minimum amount of time to rent out
one of the 'coffins' is an hour. You can occupy it for less than an hour, but you'll have to pay the same rate as a one-hour stay.
All employees of the Inn will be aware that Rin has a keen interest in technology. He's affiliated with SERO, but doesn't advertise the fact; regardless, it's not that difficult to find out. He'll maintain that it doesn't affect his business directly, and he's really only there for the access to technology.
