the deck im running with is still testing very well... since wayne is the only person who reads this, ill tell him what it is, and answer his question about tooth and nail, plus some of my choices in cards

That was the best LJ entry I've read in a long time!
It sounds like an amusing deck, I'd be interested to see how it plays!
Isn't the original counterspell in standard (8th ed)?
Perhaps it could use some tweaking for some better counterspells and stuff. I like some of the direct damage you added in, the life total one is pretty sweet.
If you didn't play standard there is a lot of better counterspells than memory lapse and such.
What do you ussually do early game vs. fast creatures, I see some direct damage and pyroclasm(love that card) or does that ussually do the trick?
I probably have more to say, but I can't think of it now. So I'll talk to you later!
nah, counterspell is gone. there were three decent ones in 7th, counterspell, force spike, and memory lapse... theyre all gone. the only counters in standard right now are.... mana leak, vex- counter target spell, that player draws a card, 1 blue three cost. annul, mana leak, last word. complicate, three cost one blue, counter target spell uless its owner pays 2. but you can cycle it, and if you do, its a force spike... so its ok... rewind. dispersal sheild- 1 colorless one blue, counter target spell if its converted mana cost is less than you highest permenent... which is terrible for a control deck trying to keep the board clear. flash counter, counter target instant, two cost... but theres really no instants that im afraid of.. maybe shrapnel blast, but i can deal with it. overide, three cost, counter unless he pays one for each artifact, but i run low artifacts, so its an expensive force spike most of the time. and discombobulate, which is a four cost like rewind, but says, look at the top four cards of your library, put them back
