Going to India for two months again. I can offer postcards, but that requires an address!

Are you excited to go back? Bittersweet to train MORE people when back here your co-workers are getting the axe?

Just send it to:

I'm very excited to go back. Overjoyed, really. And this process, which was signed eight months ago, STARTED in Mumbai. We're just going to fix some things about it. So I'm not training anyone, and no one is Mumbai on this contract is 'taking' jobs away from anyone.

I'm the second one to vote!

While my first instinct was to go SoC, I'm always up for variety so Civilization, let's see what you've got.

Indeed, did you see on the list that Axis and Allies is the second most popular strategy game after SoC ?

How'd your exam go Peter? (said like Deiter from Sprockets)

My test went quite well, thank you. I left feeling pretty sure I got at least an 85%, and I wouldn't have been surprised it if was 90% or better. I ended up scoring an 88%, so that was good enough for me. Especially since most of the class bombed it.

But even better news than that was my previous exam, which I was supposed to have taken when I was in Germany but didn't until the 5th. My original plan was to do some light studying in Germany (didn't happen), on the fights there or back (didn't happen) and hit it hard that weekend. Well, Sunday was a bust because I was up for 24 hours before I went to bed, Monday I felt like a zombie so Tuesday was the only day I really had a chance to study. And I took the test later that day. I was sure I tanked it, landing somewhere in the 50-65% range, but I ended up with an 83%. In your own words, boo-ya.

Nice, congrats Peter, I'm glad your return is going so well.

Some Sunday you're going to show up thinking you're going to have 85-95% fun at Game Night, and we're going to have a new game (Puerto Rico/Traders of Genoa) and you're going to score a 105% in fun.

I would like to see us get a non-strategy game. You already have 2 that we play often, and 2 more that could be played. Hell Diplomacy even allows for the odd 7 person game night.

I was thinking these could be fun -
http://store.yahoo.com/boardgames/senator.html (very similar to a game I played with the same guys from my Diplomacy days)

http://www.boardgames.com/mutiny.html (pirates and backstabbing, Oh My)

Chutes and Ladders (I always did love that)

Actually that Senator game looks pretty friggin rad.

That's a good point, and Senators does look cool. But man, if Jenny didn't like Diplomacy I wonder how she'd feel about that ;)

Interesting selections. I'll definitely tag the entry and come back to it. Thanks there are so many out there that sound enticing, I really just don't want to get burned though (blow 40 bucks on something I don't like), that's why the SoC family and Civ have my eye so heavily, trusted names in gaming :)

Although that stopped me from buying The Perfect 10, I had it in my hand once, and thought it sounded too easy and too much like Trivial Pursuit... and clearly in reality its a lot of fun.

I spent 2-3 hours researching games.

LOTS of games.

I probably will expand my SoC collection at some point, but I took your advice and tried to look at other options.

My three finalists were: Traders of Genoa, Puerto Rico and Acquire.

I'd really not like to admit renting that. It had a kinda cool premise, but the cover was a bunch of lies. In my defense, I didn't find it and I stopped the movie after about 8 minutes.

And I voted for civ, but after reading reviews, even the people who like it say it can take a long time...like 12 hours...and said a lot of times it doesn't get finished...so now I'm not so sure about it.

Yeah, that and the somewhat static map as well kinda turned me off a bit, plus its like reading the book and then seeing the movie or vice versa. I love the computer game, couldn't be improved upon... so the board game might disappoint me some.

Plus Fortress America and Conquest of the Empire hold a warm spot in my heart... I'd probably try to acquire those first.
