Blacksburg, Virginia-Free Oscar to Good Home that has Oscar Requirements
Hi all. Another fish in my large tank bit my oscar trying to take a shrimp out of his mouth so he is currently in a 10 gallon by himself. He is only approximately four inches long, so he's not very big as of yet. He is typically dark gray almost black with orange specks. When he gets scared he gets a lighter tan color. He's healthy with no diseases.
I will travel around the area to meet someone to deliver him. If interested in this Oscar please email me at satickle@vt.edu with how big your tank is and what other fish are currently in there. I check my email several times a day.
This isn't a very good pic of him. I tried to take several but he wouldn't hold still.
The Oscar is a freshwater fish that requires a large aquarium of at least 50 gallons with a few large rocks. They will dig up plants. Oscars are hearty eaters and should only be kept with other fish that are of the same size, as they will eat any fish smaller than themselves. They are very intelligent fish that can recognize its owner. They typically grow to a maximum of a foot long and can quite easily be trained to eat from their owners' hands They prefer water temps of 75-85 degrees.
