I found this the other day, though it may not be what you're looking for (I honestly suspect it might be strictly for use with Blogger).

There are dozens of layouts there, including a few decent Ls.

On another tack: what I tried to do, though, rather than skinning this journal with an L theme, was to choose a pre-made LJ layout that I thought would appeal to L as a computer user -- I went for something simple but well-designed in dark, muted colors.

A happy medium would be to find banners on the icon community, then hit LJ customization communities for info on how to use them, if you don't know already.

Yeah, that was my last resort. I was looking for either an epic L one, or even better, one with the huge L for a banner so it's L-like, but still a little bit personalized. -nodnod-

I generally just do color and image touch-ups to preexisting journal styles. It's functional, loads fairly quickly, and looks nice.

As far as "Do Not Want" icons go, you can use something from my userpics as long as you credit me (since, believe it or not, some of these took a while to make).
