Word Vomit. It's their wedding, and Blaine might have fixed his tongue but no one's forgot his rambling mouth the first day he and Kurt met.
Burt and Carole’s wedding was nothing like this. If Kurt was to be honest with himself, while he was proud of pulling off a New Directions wedding in his junior year, this was way better. He had definitely put in more effort, which was easy because he had about one-twentieth of the time then than he had this time to plan everything.
Everything had miraculously worked out flawlessly. Ten months ago, when he was preparing to start planning the wedding, he had tried to anticipate everything that could possibly go wrong. From the wrong flower delivery to stained silk to peanuts in the spread, Kurt had a back-up plan for almost anything that the wedding gods could throw his way.
Maybe it was because he had plan B’s and C’s that the gods feared to screw him over. Or maybe it was because it was his wedding that they relented.
Ten months ago, when Blaine had got down on one knee and pulled out a ring from his jacket pocket, there was no question that Kurt would be planning the wedding. Like anyone else would do their fabulous relationship justice. He threw himself into the planning and Blaine was the perfect partner, actually offering opinions instead of mindlessly agreeing. Both he and Blaine picked one half of the colour scheme each. Kurt attributes the beautiful mix of lavender and sky as an obvious reflection of their harmonious relationship; not to mention both colours compliment their skin tones respectively.
Obviously, they were married in New York. Both moved there after graduation, attending different universities but seeing each other at least every other day. It was in a hall, because Kurt didn’t want it in a church and Blaine really didn’t mind either way. The chandeliers glistened with shimmering frosted glass. They matched the centerpieces on the tables with the candles that glowed in the dimming light. Kurt had made sure that the Finn’s side of the wedding party table was candle free -- just in case.
Blaine put a hand over his, calling his attention back to the scene in front of him. They exchanged soft smiles. “You okay?” he asked.
Kurt nodded. “Just admiring what we did.”
“It was mostly you,” Blaine laughed. “And it’s beautiful. You’re beautiful.”
Grinning, Kurt patted his hand. “And my singing?”
“That too,” Blaine laughed.
Tinkling rose from the audience, as their guests clinked their clean knives against their water glasses. Santana’s voice rose above the sound, joined by Jeff’s, and followed by the rest of the younger crowd. “Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!” Kurt groaned, embarrassed that his parents had also joined in on the chant.
Blaine turned Kurt’s face toward him with a soft hand on his cheek. “Well? Shall we give them a show?”
“You know how I love to perform,” Kurt agreed, pressing his lips to Blaine's. The crowd hooted and the two men pulled back, smiling again. “Good wedding?”
“The best.” Blaine put his hands on Kurt’s cheeks and pulled his face towards him, pressing their lips together with an obnoxious noise even though there is no clinking glasses.
“Hey!” Puck’s voice is distinctive from Table Three. “Stop smooching and let us eat!”
Finn waved the crowd’s laughter down with too big hands. “Wait, wait, we’ll get to that. But first, as the best man -” Cooper made a sound of protest from beside Blaine, “as one of the best men, I have to make a speech.”
The guests hollered their approval as Finn raised his glass.
“Kurt and Blaine... Well, I can barely remember a time when they were just Kurt and just Blaine, you know? They fit together like no other couple I’ve met. And they, like, love each other. A lot. And it’s great, you know? It’s nice to see that kind of love. Deep... And loving... And Kurt and Blaine.”
The crowd tittered at Finn’s bumbling words, but the happy couple at the table deeply appreciated the sentiment behind it.
“You know, I still remember the day that Kurt came home junior year, and he was smiling and humming which was, if you knew him then, kind of... Well, odd. And he was talking about this boy he met who asked him to marry him and Burt freaked out!”
Burt nodded, laughing as Kurt buried his face in his hands. Blaine threw an arm over Kurt’s shoulder, pulling him into his chest and dropping a kiss on his bowed head.
“Not that Blaine was any better, I heard,” Finn continued. “Apparently, Blaine just couldn’t figure out how to talk like a normal person.”
“True,” Blaine conceded with a carrying voice, “I was just too captivated by his singing voice.”
Kurt pushed Blaine away from him, head burrowing further but shoulders shaking with laughter.
“But in the end,” Finn continued, “Kurt and Blaine went through a lot these past years, but no one can overcome anything better than these two, And no one loves like these two. And even though -,” Finn paused, a little choked, looked at Kurt and Blaine who where feeling the same way. “Even though I don’t share any blood with these two guys, no one is more like a brother to me than Kurt and Blaine.”
Finn raised his glass. “To Kurt and Blaine.”
The guests mimicked the action as both Kurt and Blaine engulfed Finn in a bear hug.
Tables for the buffet line where called based off of a Broadway version of Name That Tune. Naturally, Table Two with Rachel Berry was first to eat.
“Nice spread, Kurt,” Cooper complimented over his plate.
“Actually, Blaine picked out the menu.”
“Well,” Cooper said, impressed, “Nice job Squirt.”
Blaine shrugged. “What can I say? I’ve got great taste.”
“That you do, honey,” Kurt leaned in with his lips puckered, and Blaine met him in the middle.
After dinner was dancing. The DJ raised the mic to his mouth, a soft melody playing under him. “Before you all dine and dash, it’s time for the Anderson-Hummel’s first dance as husbands.”
Blaine stood, and with a little hop-skip back, bowed with his hand out. “May I have this dance?”
“Yes, you may.”
Blaine grasped Kurt’s hand in his and led him to the center of the floor. No tacky disco lights for them. Kurt had insisted on soft lighting as to not allow harsh angles on their faces.
I finally found you, my missing puzzle piece.
Blaine dropped his face against Kurt’s neck. “I love you.”
Kurt smiled, squeezing Blaine’s hand in his. “I love you too.”
They revolved slowly, not really dancing, just being.
Let’s run away and don’t ever look back, don’t ever look back.
Blaine leaned up against his toes. “Marry me.”
“I already did.”
