IC Information
Character: Ciel Phantomhive
Canon: Kuroshitsuji [Black Butler]
Point in canon: After chapter  35
Age: 13
Personality:
Despite the fact that he is only thirteen, Ciel's actions and personality are that of an adult's. He has learned in his short life that childishness is pointless and thus has thrived to move above it. At the ripe age of ten he became a callus, cold hearted, and emotionally detached young man. He broke ties with his more emotional self, casting away his tears, friendships, and familyhood to embrace a life of intellect and manipulation. As he sees it, life is a game of chess and he is the king; whoever gets in his way is an enemy and he will find a way to bring them down. Or so he likes to believe.

Ciel has no 'friends' due to the fact that he does not believe in making allies causing an eternal aura of lonely, bitterness to surround him. This state itself seems to push people away from him further, adding to the sad depths of his eye. The only souls this naturally distant boy seems to attract are those cast away from society or those left in the dark arms of the queen, such as Lau and the Undertaker. Common people find him an enigma trapped safe and unseen in his mansion, something fearful or untouchable. In general, Ciel is anti-social with people who are of a 'lower' class then him or whom he has no use for, making him a bit hard to get close to. He also has a tendency to lie to others or manipulate them into his use. There are only a very slim few who have gotten close to his heart.

Being raised as a Earl he does hold the personality and interactions of someone from that spectrum of Victorian society, be that good or bad. He has a tendency to be rather conceited and rude from time to time, his head swelled by his own successes. He tends to think that no one can beat him, and that his time ruling over the Phantomhive household was far more superb than his father's. He thus claims himself the one soul "lord of the household". However, on the good side of his breeding, he holds the air of a gentleman when it comes to social events, woman and tends to be very proper in his mannerisms. Due to his superb acting, he seems to be able to switch between the two at will.

Despite anything Ciel still faintly has a childish side. Like any boy his age he loves sweets, can't take care of himself and tends to pout when his strategy's fail. He also seems to be easily agitated and sometimes naive. He can not sleep without the aid of his special pillow and is highly confused when it comes to affection or women. He also seems to love games, though from time to time it can be brought into scary realities for his opponents.

In all Ciel is a broken and hateful young child still hurting from the deaths of this parent. His life is ruled by revenge and he will do anything to get it, even sell his own soul.

History:

Ciel was born into a aristocratic family called the Phantomhives. He was a happy child who loved his family with all his heart and was well loved in return. One night, however, all this was abruptly taken away from him. That night, on his tenth birthday, Ciel woke from his sleep to see that everything he had ever known or cared for had been ripped from his small hands. His home was burning, his mother and father laid dead along with their family dog, Sebastian, and hope seemed to be slowly fading even for Ciel. In a stroke of luck he and his butler, Takana, were the only ones to survive from the burning mansion.

Some would think it lucky Ciel lived, but luck was less on his side then one would think. After being orphaned by the fire the 10 year old was sold into slavery where he was branded with a hot iron, harassed, and used as a human sacrifice. During that dreaded month of torture he was forced into a life or death situation, leaving him the choice to make a dark deal with a demon. He took the contract. The demon was to become his butler, obey his every command, and destroy his enemies. The fiend was to take the appearance of his deceased father and the name of his dog, Sebastian, all in exchange for Ciel's soul. His right eye was branded with the contract and the deal was set.

After Sebastian helped rebuild Ciel's family home, the Phantomhive manor, they slowly sought servants. Takana returned to the home as a second butler, but he was not fully sufficient in his old age and loss of mind. The master and demon then sought a trio not for their skills as servants but as guards to protect his home with. They ended with Finnegan, an ex-test subject with inhuman strength, Maylene, an ex-assassin with exceptionally far eye sight, and Bard an ex-general with good leadership skills and a past in heavy weaponry. Though all of them were unfathomably poor at the jobs given, they were willing to give their lives to Ciel for he had saved them from their pasts.

It was not long until Ciel made a quick take over of his family's businesses, the Funtomhive toy and candy factory, as well his father's job as the queen's watch dog. He made great progress within the company, expanding it widely across the world and in it's divisions. The Funtomhive company became more profitable than ever in his guiding hands. As for his second and more secrative job he seemed to do well. He was easy to finish his investigations and loved to take the jobs from the Scotland yard, whom he found to be a joke. It was not until later on in this career that he began to fall in favor...

-Continued from profile-

The first job we see Ciel complete is the Jack the Ripper cases. The queen sent him in to investigate the murder of woman around London. The investigation started quite normally, collecting information, questioning suspects, and looking into alibis. When it was discovered that the main suspect may be the Viscount of Duritt, Aleister Chamber, things started to go down hill. In order to gain information on the Viscount the group, including Ciel, Sebastian, his Aunt Madame Red, her butler Grell, and Lau decided upon attending his special party. However In order to attended Ciel was made to dress as a lady and get close to the Viscount. He succeeded and found himself being auctioned at a black market slave trade. He was saved by Sebastian and the Viscount was apprehended. However, it was found out that he had not been the criminal.

Under closer investigation they found who was thought to be the next victim and created a stake out. Through the stake out they came to find out it was Ciel's aunt, Madam Red and her Butler Grell doing the killing. After finding the truth, that Grell was a shinigami who loved the way Madam Red killed, Ciel sent Sebastian and Grell into battle. However, no longer guarded, Ciel was assaulted by his aunt. Luck being on Ciel's side she came to find she could not kill her cousin. Grell thus grew angered, and killed her. The shinigami was soon after defeated and carted away by a fellow death god, William Spears, and the case was closed.

The next investigation, though more annoying, had a much less damaging out come. Ciel caught word of several nobles being harassed by a group of Indians[from india], and, not wanting to give the Scotland Yard a free shot at a job, he took it. He came to be attacked by a group of enraged Indians. A strange pair sided with the Indians, one of which easily disabled Sebastian's arm with an unknown technique. Things looked rough till the odd pair found that Ciel and Sebastian were innocent and decided to instead part with them, taking down the other Indians with ease. Ciel and his butler were let go and they returned home to find the odd pair waiting for them there. The two claimed to be an Indian royal, Prince Soma and his man-servant Agni, they demand to stay in Ciel's summer manner for saving them. Ciel tried to refuse, but through a sob story and a refusal to leave he was stuck with them till the prince found his lost lover Meena. Thus, they went on a search to find the girl supposedly kidnapped, only to find that Agni had been working with the man holding her in hopes of helping the prince get her back. The end result was a curry cook off between Sebastian and Agni where Sebastian won and allowed the Phantomhive company to expand into the food division. In the end he never got rid of Soma nor Agni.

The next mission was the hardest and most traumatic. The Queen sent Ciel word that everywhere a group called the Noah's Arch Circus traveled children had gone missing, she asked him to investigate. Ciel first went to watch the show, checking if any children were used, there were none, the cast being mostly adult. He thus made the decision to attempt at joining in hopes of getting back stage. They succeeded. During their entry to the circus they met up back up with William Spears, who proved to be quite a nuisance. They decided to stay out of each others way for the time being despite the fact that Sebastian was forced to room with the man. Ciel and Sebastian were separated. Ciel was forced into rooming with a young girl named Freckles, who, due to his clumsiness, took him under her wing.

After several days of failing miserably at his circus duties, Ciel decided to invade the main crew's tent and investigate. They got a chance at the next performance. Things were partly foiled, however, as Sebastian was forced to take the place of a performer. Ciel was made to check things out alone. During his solo investigation Ciel found a letter talking about himself, but, as he finished up reading it the performers began to return. He was caught by doll, or rather, Freckles, who protected him and led him back to their tent. He lied and told her that he was trying to steal something and begged her to let him go. She agreed. Ciel reported his findings to Sebastian but was struck with an asthma attack and forced to see the circus infirmary. He was made to stay the night in the infirmary with Freckles by his side. He secretivly sent Sebastian to go see who had sent the letter only to find that is was a man named Baron Kelvin who ran the circus.

The next day they returned home where Soma and Agni force him to rest the night. Upon awakening the following day they made their way to the Baron's home. The Baron and his servant, and lead circus performer, Joker, forced Ciel and Sebastian into dinner and a show. The show was made of untrained, brainwash children doing deadly stunts, two of which died in front of them. Ciel was repulsed and ordered it stopped, during which time he pulled a gun on the Baron. He ordered the man to take him to the kidnapped children, he agrees, and admits how obsessed he had been with Ciel. He claimed to wish to recreate Ciel's sacrifice. Enraged, Ciel shot him. Joker attempted to save his master and quickly lost his arm, he admitted that the other main cast of the circus were on their way to the manner to kill Ciel. Ciel was not fazed, despite the fact that Elizabeth, his fiancee, was there. He had full confidence that his servants would destroy them, which they did. Things took a turn for the worse when the doctor arrived and gave Ciel a show of killing a child. Ciel went into a blind rage, and told Sebastian to kill him and burn everything. He complied, killing even the children. On the way out they were met by Freckles who cried to him, hoping he was not the one who killed everyone. Ciel told her he was, sending her into a hateful attack, he had Sebastian kill her and they left the area completely.

Abilities: None without a Sebastian.
Items brought along: His Clothes, including a top hat and cane, his family ring, eye patch, pocket watch, and handkerchief.
Stigma: Ciel's stigma would be the past event of his parents murder and his enslavement. He lives for revenge against those who killed his parents. Due to this he has become hateful, angry and bitter. Bringing it up will easily cause him upset.

Prison? For what reason would I be imprisoned?! There is some mistake I am sure of this, all of you must be fools to think that what you are doing here is correct. I am no damnable little bugger to be thrown into a birds cage.

[[There is the tap of his shoes, pacing, back and forth, back and forth.]]

This is foolishness... Fine. If this is how things are, I can get out, he shall come get me when I call. You have no idea what the Phantomhive house hold is capable of. I am a not a caged bird, and I will never sing of sorrow because I am not lost, I shall return.

[[The boy glows with his own fury and determination.]]

The summer-mansion was quiet tonight and Ciel, the young earl, had been sleeping alone, unaccompanied by his butler without realizing it. That bothered him. His butler was to stay by the side of Ciel's bed if he was told and he most definably had been. So, where was he? Ciel slowly sat up in his bed and stretched, reaching drowsily for his eye patch which his tied in a dead-knot crookedly over his one shining purple eye. This eye was the pact of his demonic butler, Sebastian, the one of which Ciel now looked for. The earl gazed, groggy-eyed, around his room. No butler.

“Sebastian?” No reply. “Sebastian!” Louder now, but still no reply came. Anger bubbled is Ciel's belly as he rose from his bed. It was frustrating to not be obeyed as he usually was.

“I command you, Sebastian, come to me now!” The room stood still and the only reply was his own echo that sent a shiver down the youth's spine. It also made him madder. Ciel rose his patch a bit, offering a bit more of the contracting power, “I command you, Sebastian, come to your master!” the boy's mismatched eyes glowed a menacing duo of purple and blue as he turned a full circle around his room.

“Where are you!” The demon should have been able to hear him from anywhere with the pact, so, why was he not here now? Ciel tugged at his silver-gray hair and stormed out of the room. For quite sometime he searched the mini-castle in vain. The man was no where to be found. After much failure, the child returned to his room, defeated and frustrated.

After returning to his start, he went to the dresser in the corner of the room, pulled out one of his nice outfits. Dressing was quite a task for the little earl and in the end he was ruffle and disarrayed, luckily, he was beyond the point of caring. The youth turned to leave, but, as he reached the door frame, a noise drifted from his window. Ciel, distracted by the new sound, rushed to the open window and peered out.

“Sebastian?” his voice drifted on the wind, but in the distance he swore he could see a figure, one he knew. Ciel leaned out farther. “Sebastian!” As he screamed to the unidentified figure he felt his grasp loosen and his leg slip. The boy sucked in a gasp of air, squeaking in surprise. Before he knew it he was tumbling to the ground from three stories up. Quite a fatal fall, however, he did not die, or, at least, he didn't think he had died. No, Ciel was alive, but, where was he?
