For me I've never known how to react when either I lose someone or someone close to me loses someone. "I'm sorry to hear about your loss," is never sufficient. Everyone says that.

What eats at my insides the most is seeing beautiful people like you who are close to me while they're sad. How can Mary Starr be sad? You're always so chipper and loving when I see you. Any time I hear about someone hurting you or something awful happening to you, my stomach churns 'til it cramps.

And this isn't about me at all. You're such a talented writer, and after reading this entry, it's evident that you got part of that if not all from your Grandma. And not to sound too cliche, but that means that she'll always be with you. Through narratives, poetry, Jane Fife papers, or just witty Mary Sparr sayings in cursive she will be there, I believe, in your pen, in your mind, in your heart, and right beside you. Never stop writing, Mary Sparr: it keeps your Grandma right there with you forever.

I love you
