Ok, so I emailed the MMW department about the lack of Patterson, and they said that he is on academic leave of absence for the year. Instead, Heidi Keller-Lapp will be teaching us. The most interesting thing about that email is that Patterson's first name is Patrick. Do you suppose they called him Pat Patterson growing up

I had Heidi as a TA for MMW 5 and 6. I really liked her. She's going to be your lecturer?

Yup. Rumor has it that this is her first quarter lecturing, and thus people are nervous on account of no one has any idea whether or not she will be easy, hard, awesome, insane, etc.

Any thoughts on Heidi's potential as a lecturer?

She was very clear, well-informed, helpful. And she's very nice, but she wasn't particularly funny or entertaining. I think she'll probably be decent, but no one will be falling all over themselves to get to class.
