As You Know, I have Problems (with a capital P) with yaoi and modern anime and kids not getting off my lawn, and I love Touhou. So it’s been my stated policy for years that whenever I can’t find the kind of story that I like, I start my own. I’m sure that I’m not the only one who wants that game or book or comic to exist, so making it exist is going to improve the world a lot more than complaining about the ways in which other things do not resemble it. I’m astounded that 1) no one has apparently told fandomsecrets of this concept, and 2) it took this long for anyone else to say it about Hetalia given how long people have been bitching about it.
Personally, I still love the actual comic for a lot of reasons (the anime not so much), but my involvement in the fandom is limited to looking at fanart and occasionally writing fanfiction. And if there’s drama or something in the fandom, I just wander off and have a nice cup of tea and a sit down, as fandom is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. Sometimes I wonder if my philosophy is unique. I’ ( ... )

I like your attidude! I think the main problem is alot of fans are used to having stories handed to them on a silver platter. They know how to be consumers of stories, but not how to produce them from scratch. They feel entiltled to get exactly what they want without working for it ( ... )
