Serve me

Duke I am in total agreement with you, so many times as a server do I hear how much of a wonderful job I have done and the 10% only leaves me with $5 or less. Many times when I go out to eat I start at a baseline amount and depending on the service it can go up or down and I think many people should do this. Talk to ya later. (Matt G.)

I don't know about the rest of the world, but when I go out to eat I don't expect to give MORE than a $5 tip, even if the waitstaff is willing to cut my food and spoon feed me. Here's why - I have always favored tipping closer to 20%. In order to leave a $5 tip, my meal would have cost $25. Last time I checked, I don't eat $25 meals by myself. Anywhere you have waitstaff, your individual meal will probably cost $10 to $20. So I think a base of $3-$4 is acceptable. And leave the $5 tips for excellent waitstaff.
