[Armand's busy in the library, pacing and otherwise, not at all looking like his usual creepy, arrogant self. Drinking from Neil had left him with a shaky hold on his memory and reality; he needed something to root him to this place, this dimension. More than anything, he didn't want to think about those memories that had been scraped up by the ( Read more... )

Taking the advice of his warden, Chang was looking for something that helped him understand the recent flood. Primarily on his mind was the Great War that his counterpart had fought in, if in a higher position than glory might allow.

So he was now looking for information based on it. Any information. He shoots a vaguely irritated look in Armand's direction for his unease and sits down to start reading.

[Armand heard the sound of a heartbeat and he turns his head at it, catching Chang's look and curling his lip in annoyance.]

I am not hampering you in any way.

[He wanted to make sure his own irritation was plain; he didn't like being watched if at all possible.]

[Chang snorted with amusement.] Congratulations, alas I have no prize to give you for your achievement.

[Armand didn't like sarcasm, never had and likely never would. Being straight and forward usually did more damage than a few snide words anyway. He pushes the book back into the shelf and folds his hands behind his back with his arrogant poise in place.]

And I would not take a prize from a mortal, for it would mean nothing.

He's like a vampire! Only alive! notonedrop September 30 2010, 23:40:03 UTC
Edgar, meanwhile, was sitting in the library...reading about vampire bats. Stereotypical, yes, but he felt like understanding their physiology might help him understand his own better, and what it was about blood that he needed that kept him from weaning himself of it.

Woo woo! whattasteisthis October 1 2010, 01:48:32 UTC
[Armand didn't quite recognize the smell of the other being in the library as he turned his head to look over at Edgar. The vampire pulled down another book as he moved toward the boy. The alternate appearance made the vampire curious. He sat down at the table across from Edgar, saying nothing.]

Looking up at the stranger, noticing that the man seemed interested in him for some reason. "Hello, did you need something?"

If he had something he wanted to ask, he might as well ask it...though Edgar realized there was a chance that he just wanted to stare.

[Armand opened his book and turned it to a page on the mythology of vampires before looking up, smoothly. He didn't particularly need anything from anyone, but there was no reason to not try to recruit another creature to his posse of vampires (which seemed to have gone down in numbers since his re-arrival).]

You are not human.

[His words were cool and calculating, but not accusing.]

[Reading a tome on military history, this one. He glances at Armand's activities maybe once, shrewd, calculating, and unafraid before returning to his book.]

[Armand feels the presence of another in the library and pulls down another book as he glances over at Slade. He seems familiar but can't quite place where or when he met him. The vampire continues to peruse the selection before approaching the other inmate.]

[He hasn't actually met Armand before, but he's a rather distinctive personality on the journal system so he knows who the other inmate is. Listening to his approach, Slade doesn't actually look up to see who it is since he already knows.]

No luck?

[Armand takes a quick glimpse at the cover of Slade's book as he continues to make his sauntering procession over to the other inmate.]

Not of the kind of reading I enjoy, certainly not. But you seem interested in such things as war. Mortal, through and through.

IF THIS WILL MAKE THINGS TOO WEIRD FOR ARMAND, IGNORE ARTHUR. I just thought it'd be funny :c paradoxlol October 1 2010, 01:53:03 UTC
[Arthur was just strolling through the stacks, making sure everything was in place and nobody was hiding in a corner making shivs. It was official: library duty was dull as hell. He'd even take fighting with Mindy over making another round through the library. At least that got his adrenaline flowing.

Oh well, this was the cover he'd chosen while on the Barge. It was better than telling people "I'm a conman who breaks into people's minds."

He passed another row of shelves, then stopped in his tracks. Signs of life, up ahead. He approached the other man, not seeing who it was just yet.]

Can I help you find something?

No it's all good! :D whattasteisthis October 1 2010, 02:04:43 UTC
[Armand looked up at the voice beside him, having heard the heartbeat long ago. His gaze was first soft, until he caught the smell. Arthur, clearly, was not Rex and the vampire curled his lip at that before he shook his head.]

No.

[And went back to searching for a tale he actually wanted to read.]

[Oh, it was the guy who wanted to taste him. Not exactly the type of person (well, vampire) that Arthur wanted to spend much time around. Arthur maintained a healthy distance, watching the vampire's expression harden. Well, then.]

Uh huh.

[No, that wasn't skeptical at all. Arthur started to leave, although he kept an eye on Armand as he did.]

Well, if you do need anything, just come to the front desk. [Pause.] And try to put everything back where you found it.

[Armand raised an eyebrow at the man before he ran his fingers along the spines of the books on the shelf, raking his long nails across them.]

If you think it necessary.

[Order, he could understand, was certainly important, more important than anything else, if he was honest. He paused at a book that particularly struck his eye and he delicately snatched it from the shelf. King Arthur.]
