[In that same clinical tone she used to report on the Aztec incident:]On April 11th, my inmate, Amanda Young, attacked fellow inmate Mark Hoffman, presumably from behind. She was apprehended by Angelica Sexby in the inmate showers, whereupon her clothing was removed and Young relocated to level zero ( Read more... )

Sarah. You can't follow her around 24/7.

I can't be there all the time, but I'd rather say it was because I was eating or sleeping than because I was gambling.

Does she have any known friends or allies at all? I don't think my inmate's the type to work with her, but the Barge does create strange bedfellows.

Not that I know of. She's very abrasive, and I'm not sure anyone here is very sympathetic to her.

But then again, you never know what weird circumstances could be at work.

Anyone who's had disagreements with Hoffman might be a good starting place. I find it hard to believe she's working alone, given the high level of scrutiny on her.

Also, I made sure to check my cabin after the last time its security was compromised. No razor blades missing on my end.

That's not a bad idea. I'll talk to him when he's out of the infirmary.

Thanks for checking.

You can't be everywhere all the time, Sarah. I know that's a hard thing to accept or get excited about, but it's true.

I appreciate it, but I wasn't sleeping or having a shower; I was playing poker.

I'm here to look after her, not gamble.

And if you spend your time here lying in wait for something to happen, stalking her the whole time and obsessively trying to make sure she doesn't do anything, you're going to go crazy.

Dick, I'm used to this kind of thing. I can handle it.

Don't worry.

...

[Damn it Rex, why are you so crazy that you might be friends with the craziest crazy on board?]

I can't say anything for sure, but looking at his notes? It looks like Rex tried to go easy on her with the nanomites. So... if she has literally no other friends, then he might be your guy.

Like I said, I don't know for sure, but uh, burning Victors face off way back when probably didn't hurt her chances of getting him on side.

[Pause.]

I will find out though. If he had anything to do with this, then I'm sorry, and I promise you it won't be happening again.

I'm sorry, I'm just -

He didn't come after me. I can't believe he would do anything to sabotage...

[Ffffff.]

Let me know what you find out. Thanks.

Sarah, you can't blame yourself for this.

Don't get me wrong. I don't blame myself for what she did, but I would rather have been able to say "I was sleeping" or "I was having dinner" instead of "I was doing x, which is not something I was brought here to do."

But your inmate can't be your whole life. It doesn't work like that.
