Sarah seems better than she has over the past month. Not by miles, but at least somewhat. Her eyes have almost completely healed.]Eventually, you reach a point where you have to dust yourself off and move on. You can't always rely on others to help you up. You can't lie at the bottom of a pit for the rest of your lives, staring up at the ( Read more... )

I'm more of a woman for whisky myself.

I try to avoid whiskey. Particularly of the homemade variety.

Drinking with Neil Howie has given me a taste for scotch of late.

Honestly, I'm surprised that more of us aren't raging alcoholics by now.

What qualifies as alcoholism around here, anyway? More than one bottle a day?

I've been doing some reading, too. [For Sylar. But he won't point that out.] I don't know that I'd be much help, but I'd be willing to try.

Someone has to do it. It might as well be the ones who think we need it most.

I think one of the Doctors - Dr. Smith - has some training.

Good to hear. About the sanity, not the pretzels. I wonder if Parker can make them. It can't be that hard, right? Not with the staff she has.

Time to start recruiting, I guess. Neil Howie needs a pretzel.

Relying on others presumes you can trust them.

You have to be willing before you can be able.

They have to give me a reason before I am willing.

Bluntly put, after everything I have seen and experienced, and every effort I have made, it still boils down to this: we are captives here, being forced to change against our will. This is not "help". It is forced conversion. We can cooperate, or we can fall to oblivion. Where does trust figure in? Or hope? This is a prison, plain and simple.

What would you like me to say to you? You're telling me all the reasons why you shouldn't take the help offered to you, but not asking me to make an argument.

My position is that you're here for a reason. Everyone is here for a reason. Is it so hard to accept that maybe you need to right some wrong? Maybe you need to accept help?

My inmate happens to be well-educated in that particular field of study, possibly more so than anyone else aboard this vessel.

I...actually greatly distrust the field. I am certain it has its merits though, and will encourage your idea.

And I am still aboard, as you have seen.

Do you think she would be willing to help teach those who're interested?

I'm glad to see it.

Actually, I would strongly advise against it, hence my mentioning it at all. I know not whether her education is common knowledge or not, but prefer if she is kept out of such matters.

Seems you've had a busy fortnight. How are you faring?

I see. Well, thanks anyhow.

As well as some, better than most. How are you?
