[ Curse. John is so fucking cursed.

His smile breaks out as he pushes past the crowd in order to get to Buffy. She's just slain the biggest, baddest monster in the history of well, biggest, baddest monsters he'd ever seen, and his heart is just bursting with so much pride and joy at her victory that he can barely stand it.

What is this feeling? ]

[The crowd keeps a respectable bubble of space around Buffy and occasional, casual sweeps of her scythe encourage it. She's trying to crane her neck to catch sight of John. He'll be there, if something hasn't happened to him. The problem with being short is that she can't see over all these people.

The butterflies in her stomach are quickly turning into bats and her throat is going dry. It's part fear, part anticipation and part...something else]

[ He sidesteps a couple of fellas and appears in front of Buffy with a flower in his hand; a single rose he'd only just plucked out of some random person's bouquet. Deal with it. ]

A beautiful flower for a beautiful, kickass lady. [ He smirks, bows down a little, and offers her the rose. ]

[That smile is one of relief and then surprise and then entirely something else; something softer than one would expect a woman who'd just killed to wear. She takes the rose with her free hand, moves the scythe to the side and steps forward, the hand holding the rose going to John's shoulder. She bows her head, bringing them that much closer.

The crowd falls quiet, waiting for the next installment of the show. It's the silence that makes her notice them. She looks back up at him, mischief in her smile and her eyes.]

I think they're waiting for something.

[And then without waiting for him to make a move--she is a gladiator after all--she closes the space between them, her lips against his in a kiss.]
