There's a new one.

78 year old German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger. A.K.A. Pope Benedict XVI.
The strictest and most conservative pope in hundreds of years...

I watched it live...it's like a sports event, or a political rally with so many people tailgating and cheering.

i think it's a shame they picked him; he's a super-hardcore conservative. i don't think that bodes well; the new pope will likely be a force against positive change that needs to happen in the church and the world.

I knew we should have had a betting pool on this thing...I've totally been calling him since JP died...although every time I would say "the german's gonna win" Ryan thought I meant the very liberal Austrian guy...seriously though, I think they just picked the oldest guy in the running so that they wouldn't have to deal with the same guy being in charge for so long...

yeah Schoenborn is quite liberal for a cardinal, and he would have been a refreshing change.
personally, i'd like to see more of Biffi, simply because of his insistence that the antichrist is amongst us, and that this evil character is a charismatic-vegetarian-environmentalist-pacifist-human and animal rights activist.

well, what else could a "charismatic-vegetarian-environmentalist-pacifist-human and animal rights activist" be but the antichrist? A good, civic minded individual? psha.
