that makes a bit of sense to me, but then i thought of this thing i watched on tv the other day... it was 'the fabulous life of young hollywood' (shut up i was bored) and it showed jessica simpson, paris hilton, lindsay lohan, etc. etc. buying clothes...and those girls spend like $10,000 - $50,000 at a time! that, to me, shows their wealth and lavish spending, but if there were no taz on clothing, it wouldn't affect them. if however, there WERE a tax on clothing, poor mexican families in texas buying back-to-school clothes at walmart every fall would be burdened by buying necessities. i think taxation is a tricky subject, and no answer will please everyone. i think that income taxes, though they have their problems, are the best answer. i guess i should educate myself more on the alternate options before sticking to that, though.
