(insert rant about hmos here)
Um, if the government, or insurance companies, acted logically, wouldn't they be better off not only subsidizing, but MANDATING that people get flu shots? Like everyone? And not screwing up so that they could lose the entire supply?

ahh, heres the thing: u learn very quickly that insurance companies dont act logically. but they're really good at screwing a lot of people out of money, thats for sure ;) ....but u really cant blame them for running out of flu shots. u should just blame walgreens, i find a reason to everyday

Whoever it was in the NHS or CDC who decided that we should trust our entire flu-vaccine supply to a single distributor should be canned. Seriously--hundreds of people could die as a result. It's negligence on a huge scale.

And insurance companies don't act logically. They act on a cost per unit basis. I'm sure, somewhere, someone has a formula which worked out that covering flu shots would harm their bottom-line.

/no faith in HMO's
