A book challenge meme I've seen in several friends' posts: off the top of your head, list 15 books in no longer than 15 minutes that you've read & will always remember some part of
( Read more... )
Kind of a weird 'challenge'... is it like 'can you think of 15 books in 15 minutes' or are we supposed to know what we will "always remember"? Because surely the first fifteen books you think of... well anyways.
Middlemarch Nicholas Knock & Other Poems Little, Big The Mixed-Up Files Of Basil E. Frankweiler Eros The Bittersweet To The Wedding The Lord of the Rings Pride & Prejudice Mrs. Dalloway To The Lighthouse The White Hotel The Crying of Lot 49 Hope Against Hope Hard-Boiled Wonderland & The End Of The World The Enormous Room
I will admit that if I didn't have my books mostly catalogued on goodreads, I wouldn't have done this. And, even so, I didn't do it in 15 minutes. But it was entertaining to survey books for impact-value, as it were. And I'm fascinated to see your list.
Yeah, I didn't really sort for that, though of course that sorting happens naturally a bit -- but part of my feeling is that if I remember that I read a book, surely I also remember some part of it. And if I remember it now, why wouldn't I remember it later, you know? What I do and do not forget isn't random, exactly, but it's pretty unpredictable.
i agree with icecreamemperor; this is weird. but what the heck.
to the lighthouse moby-dick the wind-up bird chronicle someday, angeline one fish two fish red fish blue fish the wings of the dove the french revolution journal of the plague year a wreath for the enemy bleak house crime & punishment the magic mountain as i lay dying the odyssey outside over there
The Hobbit Lord of the Rings (3 books) The Dark is Rising (6 books) David Gemmel (soooo many. I pick 'Legend') Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe The Colour of Magic (+loads of other books by Pratchett, love Lord Vetinari) Ender's Game Stormwarden (Cycle of Fire, Janny Wurtz) Magician (Feist) The Belgariad, I guess ;) The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant The Shannara books Katherine Kerr - Daggerspell/Darkspell/Dawnspell Heinlein - Stranger in a Strange Land
No particular order for me either - I find that when having to pour things out "quickly" I got stuck in a run on one genre for a while so the preponderance of titles are in the fantasy basket here.

... I should have grouped Hitchiker and Dirk Gently under "Douglas Adams" and made themn one entry, which would give me space to sneak one more in as a more recent entry:
