So i got this in my email today from Dr. Moeller:
Dear Students,
I have realized belatedly that the guide I was using to estimate word counts per page was in error, so that the word minimums and number of questions I asked for was much greater than I had intended.
I apologize greatly for the mistake, and for the added stress it has undoubtably brought about in your already difficult finals week.
If you have already completed the exam, I will adjust my evaluation to indclude the quantitative burden of the exam in addition to the qualitative issues.
For everyone -- whether you have already completed the exam or not -- you all will receive 10 free extra points on a 100 point scale to make up for the bungle and the trouble and stress it may have caused.
If you have not yet completed the exam, please see the new rules:
First, see below for 3 additional 2-point true/false questions.
New Word Minimums and New Point Total: only 50 points possible need to be attempted, with your ultimate score adjusted to a 100-poin scale by doubling that score (Y/50 becomes 2Y/100, e.g., 40/50 becomes 80/100. After that, the 10 extra credit points (on the 100 point scale, will be added), so that the score of 80/100 would become 90/100.
Second, instead of seeking a total of 100 points and using the present word minimums,
you need only complete 50 points, and the word minimums are hereby dropped from 400 to 120 for the 10 point questions and from 600 to 175 for the 15-point questions (though greater depth than in the 10 point questions is still expected).
So i only needed to do a 600 word paper, not a 4000 word paper. Awesome.
