While I agree it's stupid they should give out money, it's also stupid that they should sell the public airways like they're doing. The whole thing is about the "public airways" that the analog channels today exist on. They're really pushing for digital and HD content instead.

They're not doing that because they like digital TV, they're doing that because they want to reclaim those airways (public airways) and then sell them to cell phone companies.

yeah, it dose not make sense to sell the public airways back to public agencies like emergency services.

I guess it would be kind of the same if they wanted to move everyone from FM radio, to Sirious Satellite. You'd have 10 bajillion people with an old radio you couldn't do anything with.

If they had a good reason for the switch I'd be more behind it. It just seems like they're pushing for digital TV on the surface, while working out contracts with wireless companies behind the scenes.

Really... what does the government care if the people get CSI in HDTV.
