I have discovered a new decadence in life: Bacon Brittle.

Like peanut brittle, but with bacon.  One of the Google cafes served it at lunch today.

In completely unrelated news, I had a filling fall out this morning :(  Good thing I have dental coverage; now I have to figure out how to use it.

Anyone know a good dentist in San Francisco?

No, but make it an emergency appointment. It's really easy to lose a chunk of your tooth after losing a filling.

Can this wait until Monday?

I assume I should be avoiding all sweets and such until then.

A few weeks ago I had a filling break while I was flossing. It'd be loose for a while though... so I'm sure my years-overdue visit to my first non-pediatric dentist will be met with their fury.

For the record I went to my pediatric one a few years ago. They didn't mind clients who'd been going for over 15 years, but it was really creepy being the only client there over 3' tall... A shame too, the staff was pretty cool once you old enough to not only blather on about bubble gum and candy.

I saw the same pediatric doctor until I was 23.

Yeah, that got weird.

About the same here. On my last visit there the tiny benches and children's programs made me horrified of parents thinking I was a pederast.

Anyway, this Rockstar is so high in sugar and bubbles that it's actually irritating my tooth. And I'll bet it's the one that had the faulty cavity cap... Even if it isn't and this is psychosomatic, it's time to find a dentist!

I didn't make it; one of the Google cafes did. I guess you'd do it the same way as peanut brittle, except you mix in some crumbled, freshly-cooked bacon to the toffee base (it helps if the bacon's not totally dried out)

Another recipe in a similar vein: Bacon Candy. Coat uncooked bacon with brown sugar, lay on a wire rack over a rimmed baking sheet, bake at 350 until done (30 minutes I think).
