It's impossible to avoid, although people will go to great lengths to do it. No one wants to be "classified", yet whether they admit it or not, they classify other people and quite probably classify themselves as well. And the classification doesn't end with people, it extends over into something that everyone most people enjoy music

definition of emo (according to world history): almost any form of guitar-driven alternative rock that expresses emotions beyond traditional punk's limited pallette of alienation and rage. emocore was the orginal term and was starting to be used in 1985 to bescirbe some of the bands in the DC area that were singing about sadness, hope, compassion , and love.
