Final Fight [CT 09/24]whenshewasniceSeptember 24 2016, 15:08:40 UTC
Envy had finally come down from the stage. She got to Gideon right as he was getting up from the bag-blast knocking him on his ass. "Are you okay?"
"Back off," he snapped. "Do you think I need help from you?"
Envy's eyes widened like she'd been slapped. People in the audience cringed.
Scott got to his feet. "Gideon... I think I understand you, man... And now I have to kill you." A sword burst through his chest. LEVEL UP! GUTS +1, HEART +3, BALLS +2. He picked up the sword. SCOTT EARNED THE POWER OF UNDERSTANDING! (NEW T-SHIRT UNLOCKED!)
Gideon grabbed Envy unexpectedly. Even more unexpected was the way he ripped the fabric on the back of her dress. A sword popped out and he grabbed it, then showed her away as her dress fell apart.
(ENVY'S DRESS FELL OFF, REVEALING A SEXIER DRESS! CHARM INCREASED!)
"Yes! I had a sword built into Envy's dress in case of emergency! That's just the kind of guy I am!What a douche. Everyone wanted to see this guy ended, right? Good, because that's exactly what happened. Right on the stage, no less.

Closure [CT 09/24]whenshewasniceSeptember 24 2016, 15:09:31 UTC
Only Scott and Ramona remained on the stage. That was, until Envy walked the pyramid up to them, her heels clicking ominously with each step. Scott looked alarmed as she got there.
There was a second of tension.
And then she hugged him. It was brief, but tight.
"Oh, man," he said, as she pulled back. "Were you and Gideon, like, a thing?"
"We could have been, but I doubt he ever felt that way," she admitted, glancing away. "Maybe I was just after the power, the connections, the money..."
"The money..." Ramona echoed, shaking her head.
"Anyway, turns out he was crap," Envy concluded. "I'm over it." And she wasn't lying. There wasn't much to get over, not really. She looked over the crowd. Then back at Ramona and Scott. "P.S. - get off my stage."
She walked back to the microphone. "Hey, Toronto," she said. "Give us just a moment. We'll give you the show you came for."
The Show (Really) [CT 09/24]whenshewasniceSeptember 24 2016, 15:10:19 UTC
When Envy (along with her anonymous musicians) came back, she'd thrown a form-fitting white jacket over her dress, and her hair was no longer in spikes but rather a twisty halo around her head.
"This isn't on the album," she noted. Just that. The music began. Her voice was hypnotic as it came in. "Steal once, pay twice; advice to heed, I won't, I might." Repeating. Several times. And as the music picked up, the keyboards chiming, the glass coffins, still up above the stage, began to be lowered. "Advice to heed; steal once, pay twice." The coffins opened. Dazed, the young women stepped out onto the stage. Blinking at the world.
Envy didn't look like she was paying them too much attention. When the song changed again, finding something other than the hypnotic repetition, did her eyes sweep the audience for someone in particular? Who knows. "You always said that love was not enough, always on the move. And even though we long to shut it up, we could never choose. Now we know there's nothing awaiting us better than the truth. She found

Afterwards [CT 09/24]whenshewasniceSeptember 24 2016, 15:13:32 UTC
People filed out pretty quickly after Envy's final set. Maybe they were in a hurry to go somewhere they could fully concentrate on relaying every last bit of the evening on to social media even more than they already had during it.
The floor was littered with coins and the contents of Ramona's bag. Some of Gideon's exes were at the bar, ordering cold ones (with irony) and calling their mothers. The kinds of things you did after a cryo freeze.
What a wild night. Time for last drinks. Maybe you'd even catch a glimpse of Envy Adams, too.

"Look, you've been very useful tonight," said Peter, even if he still didn't have the foggiest clue what had just happened. He felt like he'd been on an LSD trip. He felt vaguely like he should call his dad and ask if his grandfather had ever mentioned anything about what taking drugs was like. "But you're annoying me now."
The cadre of bodyguards did nothing.
"Can you at least half-moon me so I can reach the bar?"
Grudgingly, a few of them moved, allowing Peter to at least walk towards what he was pretty sure was the bar.

Envy wasn't entirely sure about everything that had happened, either. She was getting pretty tired of men she was in relationships in bursting into coins, though, she was sure of that.
She didn't come out from backstage until she was sure most of the crowd was gone. Something felt just fragile and exposed enough that she didn't want to deal with that right now. Still caused a slight stir as she appeared, but most people around were people who'd known her when she'd been still living in Toronto. It was fine.
She got to cross the space to the bar in peace.
"How many times do I have to say he's not going to be murdered here?"
No, she didn't think his security detail would care. In particular with all the death and violence that had gone on tonight.

He smiled at her. It wasn't a big one, and his brow demonstrated a certain level of befuddled. "Should I even ask what just happened?"
