I don't know if it will stick, but I have started a writing project that is massive in scope. On Friday, stoned and drunk, I was flipping through a photo series on Nat Geo. I can't describe the feeling -- best I can offer is to say it was like having a layer of my brain peeled back, finally, and being allowed to look in at some kind of opalescent

Oh, god, that's so exciting! That's one of the best feelings there is.
It sounds like you're in the best of places with it, and I hope that's where it stays.

I am so excited about this. I've avoided that shut door which I always assumed had hidden from view a dusty, neglected room devoid of furniture, where the wallpaper was peeling and a cold draft blew in through the broken window - only to try the knob one day on a whim and discover a beautifully appointed study lined with books and photographs, a broad desk free of clutter, and a giant, comfy chair for the boss to sit in. I hope you're getting it all down, every last scrap. I know what kind of power you've got. Or rather, we all know what kind of power you can seemingly casually bring to the page. And I have a very strong intuition about what it can accomplish when harnessed systematically in the service of a grand public works project. Even if you just flood the plain, I want to be there when the dam breaks.
