mastodon is amazing. i didn't think they were at pitchfork, now i really wish i would have gone. i feel like its weird that they are at pitchfork, because they are like kick-you-in-the-face metal. and i always have seen pitchfork and more of a indie type of place.

pitchfork usually hosts mostly indie bands, and they draw in a crowd of indie kids, but they've always had some nice variety at their fests. Clipse, De La Soul, and Gza were there this year to make up the hip-hop acts. They also always have a DJ stage, but this year they made that stage a little larger and had a few other bands (not just DJs) play there.

someone i work with at the radio station was at pitchfork, and had backstage passes and everything. he was backstage for the new pornographers, and hung out with voxtrot.

ALSO he told me that mr. malkmus played a bunch of pavement songs, which must have been AMAZING!

yeahhhh...Malkmus. He was awesome, but his show made me realize that I'm not nearly as familiar with Pavement as I should be. I only recognized a few of the songs that he played. However, I'm going to work on changing that over the next few weeks/months/years.
