RL with Ares

It hadn't taken too long for Hera to find Ares. Africa was a big continent, yes, but he was her son.

She walked slowly, and she stopped outside the building, knowing that Ares would sense her there, but not wanting to surprise him too terribly.

She waited.

Ares didn't want to get up. Getting up would acknowledge that someone was out there and he really didn't want to deal with anyone at the moment. He growled softly, hoping they'd just fucking leave.

No such luck. Then the larger dogs god a whiff and the barking starting up. Sighing, he slowly climbed off the mattress, careful not to wake the pups that had been curled around him.

"What the fuck do you want?" he snarled, glaring from the doorway. Why didn't anyone ever just listen to his damn warnings?

Seeing Ares in the doorway reminded Hera of nothing less than a wounded animal.

She remained where she stood, and returned his gaze steadily.

Softly, she said, "I just want to make sure you're alright, Ares."

Ares frowned, wary. He'd expected yelling, perhaps a scolding for disowning Eros again, something. Certainly not this. His eyes narrowed in suspicion.

"I'm fine," he said tersely. "Now leave."

Hera took a deep breath.

"No, you're not fine." She spoke slowly, softly. "But you won't admit it. And... I'm not even asking for you to admit it. I'm just worried about you, Ares."
