This is so utterly gorgeous that I'm left speechless. The banter and the tension between them, Sam's hopes and dreams and fears and aspirations, Dean's prevarications and pretences - you capture all of that so immensely well.
Frankly, it's heartbreaking.

Oh gosh, I really want to copy & paste the lines I loved - the lines that broke my heart - but there are too many of them. Even taking away the last, physical bit of the story, everything's so amazingly in character. Like the earlier years of the show, I keep switching between "oh, Sam" and "oh my God, Dean."
