Turns out in order to get that box with the paid account options when you're on the Update Journal page, you must maximize the browser window to be hogging up your entire screen.

...*blink* No you don't; the box will be there if you scroll down. Either we're talking about different boxes, or... well, actually, there's only one box there, with a darker gray background, yes?

What browser are you using?

Yes, you do, on my machines whimmydiddle March 20 2005, 20:13:39 UTC
Using IE at work & at home. I'm talking about the grey box on the right that says "Paid Account Options," and gives you the ability to create a poll, not the grey box at the bottom that says, "Options." If you do not have a paid account there is no way you can see the box I'm refering to. I have a paid account, but cannot see the "Paid Account Options" box unless I click the litte "Maximize" button in the upper right hand of the IE window.

Oh. I really didn't notice that box very much before, since I create polls so rarely and usually start from the FAQ about polls when I do...

*goes to check*

Um. Mozilla 1.7, works without messing with window size, both on a Windows PC and a Solaris Sun box. Since my knowledge of web design hasn't progressed beyond basic HTML, I'll leave the likely reasons to those more experienced than I...

Nope, differtent box. This is the one in the upper right corner for Paid Account Options. I think LJ increased the text box size of the subject line and it's pushing the javascript box for paid account options out of the way. They probably should have just increased the amount of characters and kept the box size the same.

And I've now tested it on IE, Netscape, and Firefox on Macintosh, and Netscape and IE for Windows. The problem is consistent and that extra couple of pixels from using a full screen window makes all the difference on our machines. (Of course, I never noticed at work because the resolution on that screen is so high, at home we're using older monitors and video cards.)
